Our Favorite Met Gala Looks
Celebrities stunned on the steps of The Met on May 6th. The 2024 Met Gala took place with Zendaya, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Lana Del Ray, and more in attendance. The theme was “Sleep Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the dress code for the night was “The Garden of Time”. Some celebrities stunned and fit the dress code to a tee, while others left viewers disappointed, since the Met Gala red carpet (this year it was green and white) is the opportunity for avant-garde, excitement, and experimental fashion. We’re sharing our favorites from one of the most exciting nights in fashion.
Zendaya
Met Gala co-host Zendaya stole the show in two outfits, both thanks to her long-time stylist, Law Roach. Her first gown was by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. The ocean-blue gown was decorated with birds, foliage, and tulle. Zendaya’s second look was a never-worn vintage Givenchy gown from the 1996 Spring/Summer collection, also designed by John Galliano. Both looks featured extravagant headpieces that completed the looks and solidified Zendaya as one of the best dressed of the evening.
Tyla
The South African singer’s dress channeled the sand of times, with her Balmain dress made of sand and the hourglass she held on the carpet. The dress made with sand and micro-crystals was made for her based on a cast of Tyla’s body. Designer Olivier Rousteing created the dress to fit the Gala’s “The Garden of Time” theme. Four men were needed to carry Tyla up the stairs of The MET. While the dress slowly fell apart and tore as the event went on, it only made it even more fitting of the night’s theme.
Sabrina Carpenter & Barry Keoghan
The pop star and actor made things official as they walked up the Met Gala steps together. Vogue shared a video of the couple getting dressed and seeing each other’s outfits for the first time as part of their “Last Looks” series. Sabrina Carpenter was in a strapless custom black crushed velvet and light blue satin gown by Oscar de la Renta. Barry Keoghan wore an olive velvet suit and waistcoat from Burberry, along with a ruffled silk shirt, top hat, and boots. The pair resembled Alice and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.
Lana Del Rey
The singer came in an Alexandre McQueen gown from their 2006 Fall/Winter collection. The beige gown featured embroidery that created branches, and Lana Del Rey wore a headpiece of antlers, a tulle veil, and hoof boots to complete the hauntingly whimsical look. Her makeup was done by celebrity artist Etienne Ortega and used a combination of Ortega’s beauty line and Charlotte Tilbury products, who was also at The Met Gala in a Versace gown.
Dan Levy
Dan Levy stunned in a Loewe floral suit that was floral on the bottom and faded into black as it went up. The look not only shined on the carpet, especially since not many men dress as daring, but also gained lots of attention online. He was amongst some of the best-dressed men on the carpet, including the likes of Bad Bunny (Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection by John Galliano), Troye Sivan (Prada), Damiano David (Diesel), Colman Domingo (Willy Chavarria), and Lewis Hamilton (Burberry).
