The Essentials You Need to Survive Festival Season

Festival season isn’t always for the faint of heart. Between the heat, crowds, and long hours, it can wear and tear on people. We’re sure you already know the important things: staying hydrated and having a first aid kit, so we’re delving into the fun necessities - the bags you’ll need to get into venues, the accessories you’ll need to keep safe from the sun and having fun, and everything you’ll need to keep your makeup fresh.

The Perfect Bag

You don’t want to be carrying an oversized bag all day long at the festival, but you also don’t want to have a bag that is far too small for everything you’ll need.  You also need to keep in mind many venues only allow certain-sized bags or only clear bags. Our number one suggestion is a clear fanny pack. You can opt for clear glittery ones or decorate one on your own. A fanny pack lets you secure your bag to your body and can be easily adjustable, letting you change strap sizes or attach accessories like a ball cap to your bag strap.

Products & Accessories for Sun Safety

The last thing you want is to come home from a fun day of hearing your favorite artists only to discover you’re sunburnt. Of course, you can start the day off strong by applying sunscreen before you leave your house and using makeup and skincare products that have sun protection. You should try to reapply sunscreen every two hours, so bring along sunscreen - brands like Supergoop!, Glossier, and Hawaiin Tropic have small powder, spray, and liquid sunscreens that effortlessly blend with makeup and dry up sweat; plus they’re small enough to fit in your bag without taking up too much room. Along with sunscreen, make sure to bring sunglasses or any headwear you like to wear to keep your scalp safe from the sun, like bandanas and bucket hats.

Accessories for Makeup Upkeep

For those of us who love to use a festival as an excuse to get dressed up to the nines and have fun with fashion, staying fashionably put together the whole day can be a challenge, especially with the heat. Make sure you carry extra face gems, lashes, lip gloss, mini fans, and hydrating sprays to keep your look fresh. If you’re not sure how to do a makeup look with face gems book a StyldLife session with Kirtsen Coleman, a makeup artist behind some of the sparkling bright makeup looks in HBO’s Euphoria
