Beauty and Fashion for Every Stage of Life
In today’s society, it’s easy to fall under the pressure of thinking that looking young means being beautiful. You don’t need to look young to be beautiful. Recently, we’ve seen the media, celebrities, and brands slowly begin to embrace this too. From Pamela Anderson no longer wearing makeup, to the popularity of The Golden Bachelor on ABC, to Sephora with their section called ‘Makeup for Mature Skin’. Here at StyldLife, we know beauty comes in every age.
A key to feeling beautiful is embracing who you are. Embrace your natural features and use them to your advantage. Rather than jumping on a new trend, stick to what you’re comfortable with and what makes you feel beautiful. For instance, if you love doing a bright red lip, stick to it even if trends like natural makeup are getting popular. Just because how you do your makeup isn’t “in” doesn’t mean it looks bad on you. Plus, trends move so fast, before you know it, that red lip is going to be back in, and you’ll be ahead of everyone.
That being said, don’t be afraid to try something new. We have some makeup advice for older skin from StyldLife stylist, Louise Wittlich:
Trying to hide wrinkles and smile lines doesn’t always work; you might get left with cakey makeup, so don’t think you have to. Honestly, smile lines are beautiful and just mean you’ve had a life filled with joy.

Think of it almost like the saying, “Dress for the job you want”. Dress for the life you want or have; by this, we mean wearing athleisure if you have an active life but want something more elevated than activewear or having going out options if you like going to bars or concerts.
Finally, let's touch on hair care because as we get older, our hair changes. Hair gets gray, falls out, loses shine, or changes texture. When it comes to color, it’s no longer taboo to let your hair go silver and gray. That being said, if you want to dye your hair, go for it. Either way, you want to do what is going to make you feel beautiful because if you feel beautiful on the inside, it's going to shine on the outside. When it comes to hair loss, you can always meet with a doctor to discuss your options or try out a hair loss shampoo. Scalp massages also promote circulation and hair growth. (StyldLife’s Crown Club is a great place for natural hair care advice!) As for texture, try to minimize heat and add moisture to your hair. Heat will only add to any damage, and introducing a moisturizing product will help bring back some shine.
At the end of the day, remember that your age doesn’t mean you’re not beautiful. Signs of aging just mean that you’ve lived a full and long life. It means you’ve gotten to experience as much as possible. Embrace your age when it comes to fashion, haircare, and beauty because it will unlock the beauty inside of you.
