2025 Winter Trends Guide
Winter is in full swing and as we begin the new year, and it gets chillier, there’s no better time to dive into the winter trends for the new year. We’re covering fashion, beauty, and hair in our winter trends guide. From minimalism to luxe details, and a strong focus on self-care, we’re diving into it all.
Fashion
This winter, get ready for statement accessories, cozy-chic pieces, and some of the hottest fashion trends we’ve seen all year. One trend we’re excited for is all about color, but not in the way you might think. Monochrome is in this season, but we’re not just talking neutral colors, we’re talking entire outfits in burgundy, dark shades of green, and even pastel shades like ballerina pink.
Glittery fits and sparkling accessories are also under the spotlight this winter. From sparkling cocktail dresses for New Year’s Eve and holiday parties, to sparkling jewelry with large gems, glitter is making a statement. The most common form of glitter in fashion this year is sequins. Most recently, we’ve seen an increase in bejeweled jeans. These are a perfect option if you want to be comfy and stylish. Pair these types of jeans with a sleek and simple top, that way you create a balance with your bling.
You might be shocked by this one: some of our favorite celebs are rocking shorts this winter! From sparkling shorts reminiscent of what Olivia Rodrigo has been spotted wearing during her Sour tour. Other singers like Tate McRae or influencer Alix Earle have been spotted in micro shorts this season. If you’re looking to rock shorts this winter, we recommend layering with thermal or lined leggings underneath.
As for accessories, it is all about lux and chic. Think of shearling or cashmere scarves, velvet pumps and scarves, faux-fur or thrifted fur items, and chic tulle gloves. These accessories are all meant to bring a special touch of glamour to your outfit, no matter if you’re just wearing jeans and sweater.
Beauty
When it comes to winter, we tend to play off the chill in the air, and this year is no different. We’re seeing frosty eye makeup, glitter that is reminiscent of ice and snowflakes, and of course, lots of highlighter. Think of the “I’m cold” trend from TikTok with makeup that looks like a model who got caught in a snow storm — bright cheeks and blush that extends across your nose, a highlight across the top f your cheeks, and a cool touch around the eyes. We’eve seen celebs like Hailey Bieber in this makeup look.
When it comes to color, we’re seeing loads of jewel tones. This is mostly in eye makeup, like eyeshadow and even mascara. Think of emeralds, sapphires, and rubies for recreating an eye look. Try out a dark blue mascara if you’re feeling adventurous. Add a gloss over eye makeup to add an extra pop and sparkle to the look.
This trend seems to be a constant every winter: bold lips. Bold lips are always an easy way to make a statement with any outfit. It makes an extra special pop during the winter, since we tend to dress darker during the season. If you’re on the paler side, opt for a bold and bright red shade. For those who are a darker skin shade, think crimson, berry or fuchsia for a bold lip look.
Hair
While bobs might be in and influencers like Nara Smith are rocking them confidently, they’re not for everyone. Switching up your hair can be a big commitment, so we’re going over the trends that will have you doing a big chop and the ones that involve some dye or different way of styling.
One high commitment trend this winter are bangs. We’ve seen this trend grow over the seasons, transforming from long curtain bangs, to short flouncy Bardot bangs like Sabrina Carpenter rocks, and now… soft blunt bangs. We’re thinking softer, more natural bangs than Bardot bangs, but they still have a polished feel.
Another trend we’re seeing are bobs. From the micro bob Nara Smith has, to the bell bottom bob that swoops away from the face. There are so many types of bobs being rocked by celebrities like Selena Gomez to Kendall Jenner and more. Depending on the cut, you can go for a playful look, a serious and blunt bob, or something more whimsical with movement.
If you’re not looking to get a cut, we’re seeing espresso, chocolate, and black hair trending. We’re not surprised by this, considering we tend to see darker shades and fewer highlights during winter. If you’re fond of highlights, don’t worry, we’ve got a color trend for you. Caramel highlights let you mix dark browns with lights to create dimension or a subtle balayage look. This trend will also look more natural than copper colored hair (which is trending once again! It seems we can’t get rid of the copper hair trend).
For those who don’t want to chop or color, you can still be stylish this winter by doing a retro-inspired hairstyle. We’re talking about Sabrina Carpenter’s voluminous blowouts or retro waves you can achieve with some mousse or gel. These looks are great for any seasonal party, and there are countless how to videos across social media. If you’re someone who needs a little more than a tutorial to ace a new hairstyle, don’t look any farther than a StyldLife session.
